Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation announced that it agreed with Transport for London (TfL) to prolong the breakpoint in the existing contract to service trains operating on the London Overground network by ten years. The variation to the existing Train Services Agreement of July 2015, moves the contract breakpoint from July 2025 to July 2035 for maintenance and support services for the 54-train BOMBARDIER AVENTRA Class 710 fleet on TfL’s London Overground network. This change is valued at approximately £185 million GBP ($240 million US, €216 million euro).
Under the Train Services Agreement, maintenance of the AVENTRA Electric Multiple Unit fleet will continue to take place at Bombardier’s Willesden Train Care Depot in North London. The fleet is now in daily service on the Gospel Oak-Barking and Watford-London Euston London Overground routes. The trains will soon be in service on the West Anglia Metro routes.
