PRIMOVE E-Bus Fleet in Braunschweig

BOMBARDIER PRIMOVE and the municipal transport service in Braunschweig, Germany have once again shown that sustainable electric mobility is not make-believe but a reliable choice for efficient and eco-friendly urban mobility. This claim is proven by the first of the city’s four articulated PRIMOVE e-buses, as it’s reached a passenger service milestone of 100,000 km.

PRIMOVE e-buses have clearly proven that they can easily keep up with the standard diesel bus. But that’s not all, these e-buses are also far better for the environment, Braunschweig has already saved more than 540 tonnes of CO2 by switching to the e-buses.

But the buses’ performance really should not come as a surprise. The electric vehicles, equipped with the invisible wireless PRIMOVE charging system, as well as the PRIMOVE high-power battery system, have been repeatedly put to the test. For example, this April, a single PRIMOVE e-bus ran on for 41 hours non-stop. Its few scheduled brief re-charging stops at the regular stations were sufficient to supply the bus with enough energy to cover a full 470 km. The bar is set high, and we can’t wait to see what else 2018 has in store when it comes to e-mobility.

Today, environmentally-friendly PRIMOVE e-buses are in operation on routes in the German cities of Berlin, Braunschweig and Mannheim as well as in Bruges, Belgium and Södertälje, Sweden. 16 buses by four different manufacturers, as well as 18 charging stations have already been equipped with the invisible PRIMOVE charging system. Also, regular passenger service has impressively shown the system’s reliability. Combined, the wirelessly charged vehicles have reached a total of over 800.000 km in passenger service and have saved a total of 527 tons of CO2 emissions. In addition, more than 130,000 charging cycles have been conducted since the first PRIMOVE e-bus started service in Braunschweig.
